Festival
Dr. C.K. Liu and Boston Mayor Thomas Meninio
addressed attendees of the 2004 Boston Chinatown Festival and August
Moon Festival on August 8, 2004 during the opening ceremony. The
annual festival is an important celebration of Boston's rich Chinese
cultural heritage and a wonderful time for members from across the
community to share in a day of festivities. This year more than
20,000 people attended the event.
Mayor Menino and Dr. Liu each congratulated
the organizers of the event for its success and highlighted its
importance and many contributions by Boston's Chinese community
to the City of Boston. City Councilman James Kelly whose district
includes Chinatown also congratulated the participants. Festival
events included, in part, a lion dance, Chinese kung fu, drums,
folk songs, ballet, a live band, and opera.
