to speak at 2004 Annual Meeting &
Policy Forum
The Council of State Governments Eastern Regional
Conference invited Dr. C.K. Liu to speak at its 2004 Annual Meeting
& Policy Forum held from August 7-11 in Springfield Massachusetts.
The CSG is nonpartisan, nonprofit organization which promotes excellence
in state government. The annual meeting included leaders from both
foreign and domestic governments who gather to exchange views, network,
and discuss new and creative approaches for state government to
operate efficiently.
Dr. C. K. Liu, Director General of the Taipei
Economic and Cultural Office in Boston updated leaders on political
and economic developments in Taiwan and Taiwan-US relations. His
talk focused on Taiwan's flourishing democracy and economic growth.
He also spoke on the importance of Taiwan-US relations and his appreciation
for the strong showing of support for Taiwanˇ¦s participation in
the World Health Organization over the years by regional state governments
and urged support for a Free Trade Agreement between Taiwan and
the US.
