GT Solar Technologies and Tatung subsidiary
Green Energy Technology, Inc. signed a $14 million contract to install
a turnkey multi-crystal silicon wafer manufacturing line at GET.
The announcement was made at GT Equipment Technologies in Merrimack,
New Hampshire, on August 4, 2004 and followed by a reception.
New Hampshire Governor Craig Benson and Sean
O¡¦Kane, Commissioner of Resources and Economic Development were
special guests at the event and noted that the technology transfer
was an important step in increasing trade between Taiwan and New
Hampshire. Chairman of GET and President of Tatung Company, Dr.
W.S. Lin and Dr. Hur-Lon Lin, President, GET, Inc., were also present
for the special announcement and stressed the importance of developing
solar energy sources. Dr. John Huan, Manager, GET, Inc., also attended.
Dr. C.K. Liu, Director General of TECO-Boston was invited to speak
at the announcement. Dr. Liu congratulated the parties on the announcement
and noted that it was an important step in further strengthening
relations between Taiwan and New Hampshire. He encouraged cooperation
in additional areas as biotechnology, IT, tourism and higher education.
He extended an invitation to Governor Benson to lead a trade delegation
to Taiwan and consider forming a sister-state relationship between
Taiwan and New Hampshire.
