The Massachusetts House of Representative and Senate
passed a joint resolution supporting the negotiation of a Taiwan-US Free
Trade Agreement on May 13, 2004. The resolution cited the fact that Taiwan
and the United States share an important economic and strategic international
relationship, one that would be even better served by a free trade agreement
between our two countries. The resolution also highlighted the many shared
values between Taiwan and the United States as our belief in freedom,
democracy, antiterrorism and market principles.
Massachusetts Senators Andrea Nuciforo, Jarrett
Barrios and Representatives Michael Rodrigues, William Greene, Reed Hillman,
Marie Parente, and Kathleen Teahan offered the resolution.
