TECO-Boston Hosts Reception for 95th
Anniversary of the Republic of China (Taiwan), October 5, 2006
Director-General Kuo-tung and Mrs.Yang hosted
a reception in celebration of the National Day of the Republic of
China (Taiwan) in Boston on October 5, 2006. The reception was well
attended by state, city and local leaders, the Chinese community
and a host of friends.
Director-General Yang addressed the audience
in a speech in which he highlighted the TECO-Boston office achievements
of building even closer relations with Massachusetts, Rhode Island,
New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine over the past year. He noted that
Taiwan and the United States, and Massachusetts in particular --
with its ˇ§Spirit of Massachusettsˇ¨ campaign -- share the very same
values of freedom, democracy and human rights.
Citations, proclamations and well wishes were
received from: Governors of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts,
and Rhode Island; Congressman Patrick Kennedy and Congressman James
Langevin; Senates of Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Maine; House
of Representatives of Massachusetts and Maine; Mayors of Providence
(RI), Pawtucket (RI), Boston (MA), and Manchester (NH). The Boston
City Council provided an official resolution.
