April 20, 2006
The Massachusetts General Court passed a resolution
on April 20, 2006 supporting the negotiation of a free trade agreement
between Taiwan and the United States. The resolution, signed by
Speaker of the House, Salvatore DiMasi and more than 20 senators
and representatives, notes that a free trade agreement between Taiwan
and the United States is in the interests of both countries.
A free trade agreement between Taiwan and the United States would
streamline trade regulations, stimulate joint development of advanced
technology and new high tech applications, promote new cooperative
ventures, and create new business and employment opportunities.
