resolution supporting Taiwan-United States free trade agreement
on May 9, 2006
The State of Vermont issued a joint senate
resolution on May 9, 2006 supporting the establishment of a free
trade agreement between Taiwan and the United States. The senate,
cited in part, the fact that Taiwan and the United States enjoy
one of the most important economic and strategic international relationships
and a shared belief in freedom, democracy and free market principles.
As the resolution points out, there is a high
level of mutual investment between Taiwan and the United States.
A free trade agreement will help streamline investment procedures,
lead to further cooperation, generate new business opportunities
and jobs creating a win-win trade opportunity for Taiwan and the
Untied States.
