Rhode Island House of Representatives Presents Director-General Kuo-tung Yang with Resolution at State House, March 1, 2006 The Rhode Island House of Representatives invited Director-General Kuo-tung Yang and Mrs. Yang to the State House on March 1, 2006 to receive a Resolution. House Speaker William Murphy presented Director-General Yang with the Resolution thanking him for sponsoring the Dragon Boat Race and Taiwan Day Festival in Pawtucket for the past 6 years and for his efforts to promote bilateral relations between the New England area and Taiwan. Prior to the ceremony, members of the Chinese Folk Art Workshop put on a spectacular Lion Dance performance. House Speaker Murphy, leading House members and several party whips extended the invitation to Director-General Yang to receive the Resolution to express their respect and joint support for the important Taiwan-Rhode Island relationship. Director-General Yang addressed the House members and audience saying: ˇ§Each year, the relationship between Taiwan and Rhode Island grows even stronger. Bilateral trade, cultural and educational exchanges, and tourism between Taiwan and Rhode Island continue to improve. Iˇ¦d like to thank each member of the House for the kind recognition you have given me today, especially for the resolutions passed by the House supporting Taiwanˇ¦s effort to join the WHO and a free trade agreement between Taiwan and the United States.ˇ¨ Mar. 03, 2006 |
