The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Boston (TECO-Boston), having changed its name on October 10, 1994 from “Coordination Council for North American Affairs Office in Boston,” was established in 1982. TECO-Boston represents the interests of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in New England. Its service areas cover five New England states: Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. At present, Massachusetts and Vermont each shares a sister-state relationship with Taiwan. The City of Boston and Taipei City, and Manchester (NH) and Taichung City share sister-city relations. Vermont has established a trade representative office in Taipei.
